Another Mountain for Noah’s Ark

At a recent conference, I heard about a new place where some people believe Noah’s Ark may have landed. It’s a mountain called Mount Gemikaya in Azerbaijan. That brings the total to six possible mountains: two in Turkey, three in Iran, and one in Azerbaijan.

However, the locations in Iran and Azerbaijan are very far from the land of Ararat (also called Urartu), which is where the Bible says the Ark landed. The Iranian mountains are even deeper in an area called Media. Because of this, we can probably rule out these locations.

Even Agri Dagh, a famous mountain in Turkey, may not be the right place. It’s a volcano that formed after the Flood, and it stands alone in a flat area—not in a group of mountains like the Bible describes in Genesis 8:4 (“mountains of Ararat”) Bill Crouse Gains National Attention.

About the Conference

The conference took place at the Sehr-I Nuh Otel, which means “Noah’s City Hotel,” in the town of Sirnak. This town is just north of a mountain called Cudi Dagh (also called Judi Mountain). Cudi Dagh is one of the mountains located in the Ararat region mentioned in the Bible.

The hotel was excellent—the rooms were comfortable, the food was amazing, and we had a beautiful view of Cudi Dagh while eating our meals.

A Thank You to Dr. Mehmet Ata Az

A big thank you goes to Dr. Mehmet Ata Az, a philosophy professor at Sirnak University. He did a great job organizing the event and taking care of all the guests. He was kind and helpful throughout the conference. Thank you, Dr. Az!

Highlights from the Conference

The event took place on Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28, 2013. It was well-organized, with 66 presentations happening in two different rooms at the same time. Because of this, I couldn’t listen to every talk. But there was live translation into Turkish, Arabic, and English, which made it easier to understand Communist Bulgaria Tour.

I learned a lot from the sessions I did attend, and each presentation gave me something new to think about.
